The Keosauqua Farmers Market will have various vendors and even entertainment at times. The market will be held each Tuesday from 4:00--6:00 PM beginning May 22nd through October.
Join the Villages Folk School at their Annual Memorial Day Weekend BBQ & Pie Auction! Enjoy BBQ Brisket plate for $10 or Pulled Pork plate for $8, along with homemade salads and cookies. There will be a Plein Air Quick Paint Contest through the Van Buren County Arts Council. Participants must register in advance for the outdoor painting contest. Homemade pies auctioned off throughout the evening. Bring your lawn chair and join the fun under the BIG TENT in the Keosauqua City Park!
Bentonsport Historic District will be having its annual Spring Flea Market and Craft Show during the Memorial weekend. A variety of vendors will be set up along Riverside Park. There will be music, food, crafts, antiques and a wandering musician. Shops will be open and demonstrations of rug weaving and more. New vendors welcome

Open House for season tours. There is no cost but donations are appreciated. The Historic Circuit Rider Service will be up stairs in the Church Meeting Room at 12pm. Costumed tour guides of Pearson Family Home, which was a safe house on the Underground Railroad for escaping slaves, Ellis School House and Moughler Pioneer Log Cabin.
Bring your family, friends, neighbors and enjoy Memorial Day with a full Lunch and dessert. Adults: $8, Children 5-12: $4, 4 and under are Free. Sponsored by the Milton Lions Club.
Douds American Legion Auxiliary Memorial day Service. Potluck dinner at 6pm. There is no cost. Everyone bring a dish you would like to share. Memorial Day Service program will begin at 7:15pm followed by the traditional walk to the Des Moines River bridge.
River Valley Lodge hosts their 11th Annual Cowboy Fun Colt Starting Competition. 1st prize - $2,000 cash. Peoples Choice Award, dance, wine tasting, food, cattle sorting, and more! Colts will be offered for sale after the event.

The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills, while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the eleven historic Villages of Van Buren County Iowa. Classes are held in peaceful rural settings so students can return to a simpler time and witness the importance of the artisan in village-life. Pre-registration is required for classes.

Douds American Legion Auxiliary will also host a big Garage Sale featuring everything except clothing. Free will offering for all items. Proceeds benefit Veterans in need. It will be behind the house directly across the highway from the Kwik Shop
Fresh produce, homemade crafts, baked goods, plants, flowers, jams, etc. The market will be held every Saturday from 10am-1pm.
Enjoy a day of great music, fun, and fellowship at no charge, no donation. Dinner served (on-site) at 5:30pm with meat and drinks provided, along with homemade ice cream. Bring a covered dish to share.

Join the Van Buren County Museum Crawl for a great time. Guided tours, demonstrations, experience pioneer life and take a walk to the past in our museums. There is no admission fee however donations are appreciated.
The Pearson Complex will have 1800’s costumes you can step into for a photo on your device, children will be holding class in the One Room School, tour guides will be dressed in period clothing, demonstrations of daily living in and around the cabin will take place all day, you can tour the Pearson Family home which was on the Underground Railroad. “The Galvinators” will play from 1-3pm. With original songs about Van Buren County. Refreshments including switchel, mint tea & stone ground cornbread will be served.

A self-guided tour will begin with registration at the Stone House. It will feature many unique restored historic homes, buildings, and gardens. The gardens range from large to small sized patches of brilliant flowers and vegetables. Tickets for the tour are $10 and will benefit the Bentonsport Improvement Association which maintains the historic Presbyterian Church and The Stone House.

This is an audience participation dinner theater. Some of the audience will get scripts and props. The rest of the audience will have to figure out "who dunnit"
