The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills, while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the eleven historic Villages of Van Buren County Iowa. Classes are held in peaceful rural settings so students can return to a simpler time and witness the importance of the artisan in village-life. Pre-registration is required for classes.

Aug 31st - Sep 2nd » Donkey Sorting Series

Friday 7-9pm: Donkeys will be numbered up and in pens. People will be able to just ride and a chance for anyone new to get their horses used to the donkey. No admission fee.

Saturday 11am-3pm: Full arena sort. All teams will be drawn, the number of rounds will be determined by the number of people. Teams of 3 people. $15 a person will enter you in all the rounds for the day. You will also need a $5 wristband if you are not camping. Sign up will be 10-10:45am. There will be a Jackpot round at the end of the practice rounds. This will cost $5 a person and each person can enter 3 times.

Sunday 11am-3pm: Sort-n-pen. All teams will be drawn, the number of rounds will be determined by the number of people. Teams of 3 people. $15 a person will enter you in all the rounds for the day. You will also need a $5 wristband if you are not camping. Sign up will be 10-10:45am. There will be a Jackpot round at the end of the practice rounds. This will cost $5 a person and each person can enter 3 times.

There will be year-end awards for top 3 teams presented at the final sort for both full arena and sort-n-pen.

Free, except entry fee for Mud Bogg and Ball Tournament. Enjoy a great time at the Milton Fall Festival! So many fun things to do Bingo, Kiddie Tractor Pull, Parade, Food, Mud Bogg, Ball Tournament, Entertainment and much more.

  • 5:45-6:15pm....Miss & Mr. Competition Sign up
    Anyone can participate but one parent must have a Milton address to win. Ages 3-18 years old.
  • 6-6:45....Mud Bog registration 
    Must be at least 16 years old to participate. Under 18 must have a parent sign a consent form.
  • 7pm.....Mud Bog - Free will donation
    Following the Mud Bog, there will be a kid's Mud Bog and tug or war.

Saturday 9/8

  • 8am.....Slow Pitch Softball Co-Ed Tournament
  • 10:30am.....Parade Registration
    The theme this year is Let's Get Muddy.

    Following the parade: kid's games, bouncy houses and face painting.

The Birmingham Homecoming will be serving a Box Chicken Supper from 5-7pm at the City Park Shelter. Box chicken, baked beans, french fries, various desserts, and beverage for $8. A smaller meal consisting of chicken strips, baked beans, french fries, various desserts, and beverage for $5. 

Proceeds will be used to help finance various activities for Birmingham Homecoming on June 7-9, 2019.

Ranch Horse Show Series - The sixth of the 2018 series. Jackpot sorting, roping, barrel racing, extreme trail course competition, wine tasting, dance, food concessions, and more. Camping available on grounds.  

This weekend they will also be filming “Best of America by Horseback” which is America’s Premier Trail Riding Television show! This will be a really special event and your chance to be on National TV. It is strongly suggested that you book very early.
