Ranch Rodeo Events on Saturday following the above events include Arena Sort, Branding, Sort N Pen & Breakaway Roping. ~Sunday events begin at 11am~ Featuring: Jackpot Team Roping & River Valley Extreme Trail Challenge. Participants entry fees vary depending on the event. Admission fee is a one time $5 charge. Camping & concessions available on grounds. Dance Saturday night. Trail rides all weekend through Shimek Forest.

Rendezvous a view to the past with pre-1840 events at the Waubonsie Park in Cantril. No admission fee! Open Saturday & Sunday 9a-5p & Monday 9a-3p. Come see men & womens hawk & knife throwing competitions, kids hawk trown and games, woodland period correct music, candy cannon. You can also enjoy fresh homemade fry bread and hand popped kettle, carmel, cheddar or ranch popcorn. There will also be several vendors with pre-1840 trade goods, handmade items, crafters & musicians. Buffalo Dance Friday night, Black Powder Shoot on Saturday, Round Robin Saturday night, Camp Feed Saturday night (bring covered dish & table service), Primitive Bow Shoot on Sunday, Sunday afternoon Mystery Event, and Memorial Day Ceremony Monday morning.

All pre-1840 traders and family campers welcome. Camper/blanket trader fee $15 & trader fee $20. Some wood, water and showers available. Modern camping available for a separate charge. The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills, while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the scenic and historic Villages of Van Buren County Iowa. We offer a setting in which individuals and families can connect with the "inner child" -- something often lost in the busyness of living.

Villages Folk School classes include hands-on learning in arts and crafts, fine arts, nature study, and traditional time honored skills relating to the home. Our carefully selected blend of classes allows people to return to times when things were simpler and creativity was a way of life.

Our Classes are exciting and varied, just like the unique Villages of Van Buren where they are taught. Learn to paint, quilt, make pottery, forge iron, draw, sculpt, spin, weave, garden, and much more. Relax, create, unplug, and get away from it all in scenic Van Buren County.

Food vendors on site with turkey legs, tenderloins, blooming onions, and kettle korn. Iron & Lace will have rug weaving, pottery, and blacksmithing demonstrations. The Bentonsport Artist Co-Op will also have different artists deomonstrating throughout the weekend. Forever Sweet Creations, a new shop in the old Post Office, will have fresh homemade fudge, cookies, sandwiches, and more. The Lammert Art Studio, on the upper floor of the Historic Greef General Store, will be open for visitors, Gin teaches drawing and painting as an instructor for the Villages Folk School. The Indian Artifact Museum will offer free tours.

Bonaparte Main Street, Inc. will host their Taste of History at the Whiteley Opera House in downtown Bonaparte, Iowa. The annual three course dinner theater starts at 6:00 pm. Reservations are required.

This unique adaptation of a cemetery tour combines the comfort of indoor seating with a meal and entertainment. Locals perform in costume and character relating stories in the first person between each course of the evening. Guests sit at tables designed and set by area women reflecting the era, story, or character while the actors serve as waiters. This year the stories and tables will reflect the 1860’s as the community recognizes the sesquicentennial of the Civil War with their annual Civil War Experience.

A Buckskinners Rendezvous with a twist!

Rendezvous a view to the past with pre-1840 events at the Riverside Park in Bentonsport. In additon to the normal events, hawk & knife throwing competitions, black powder shoot, primitive bow shoot, a working blacksmith, kids games and the candy cannon, there will also be pumpkin carving contests adult games, and bridge lighting. You can also enjoy fresh homemade fry bread and hand popped kettle, carmel, cheddar or ranch popcorn. There will also be several vendors with pre-1840 trade goods, handmade items, crafters & musicians. No admission fee!

Dozens of beautifully decorated live Christmas trees, wreaths, table top trees, and decorations based on the theme "(TBA)" on display at the Roberts Memorial Center. The trees and decorations can be purchased though a a silent auction throughout the 3 days, proceeds going toward "Christmas for Kids." A variety of live music will entertain the guests during the weekend. Sponsored by the Lions Clubs of Van Buren County.
