The Van Buren County Conservation Office invites you to visit Lake Sugema this weekend and enjoy free camping! 

Reservations for Lake Sugema campgrounds will start April 9, 9am. Call to make a reservation. This is in preparation for going online 2019 for all the conservation campground. For more information, you can go to www.vbcountyconservation.com

May 5th » Keosauqua Chamber Spring Open House

Have a fun day with the family. There will be a kids train on First St. from 10:30am-12:30pm. Wasko Hardware will have a grilling demonstration with free samples and serve hot dogs from 11am-1pm. Sidewalk sales taking place at downtown retail stores.

May 5th - May 6th » R.A.R.E USO SHOW

Have some dessert and enjoy the USO Show with a cast of 20 actors and singers from the 4 surrounding counties. They will be portraying famous celebrities from the 1940's. Lead by Bob Hope and his entourage providing lots of Big Band Music and Comedy. $15 per seat. Contact Rhea for tickets at 641-233-7793. Each performance will be unique! 
All proceeds will go towards the Bonaparte Opera House upstairs renovation.

Saturday: Doors open at 6pm. Saturday night band will be The Fairfield Big Band. They have been together for over 10 years and they are a 16pc instrumental band. 

Sunday: Doors open at 2pm. Sunday band will be the Tarnished Brass Band. They have been together for 14 years and they are a 25pc instrumental band.

The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills, while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the eleven historic Villages of Van Buren County Iowa. Classes are held in peaceful rural settings so students can return to a simpler time and witness the importance of the artisan in village-life. Pre-registration is required for classes.

May 6th » Mother's Day Tea Party

Enjoy a Mother's Day tea party at the Stockport United Methodist Church. It will be in the basement of the Church. Food and tea will be provided. Please call Dorothy Gilbert at 319-796-2253 or Tara Wolf at 319-592-3164 if you would like to attend and how many will be coming. Join the Villages Folk School at their Annual Memorial Day Weekend BBQ & Pie Auction!  Enjoy BBQ Brisket plate for $10 or Pulled Pork plate for $8, along with homemade salads and cookies. There will be a Plein Air Quick Paint Contest through the Van Buren County Arts Council.  Participants must register in advance for the outdoor painting contest. Homemade pies auctioned off throughout the evening. Bring your lawn chair and join the fun under the BIG TENT in the Keosauqua City Park!

Open House for season tours. There is no cost but donations are appreciated. The Historic Circuit Rider Service will be up stairs in the Church Meeting Room at 12pm. Costumed tour guides of Pearson Family Home, which was a safe house on the Underground Railroad for escaping slaves, Ellis School House and Moughler Pioneer Log Cabin.
