Celebrate the season, beginning November 29 and continuing throughout December with a variety of special events happening.

The spirit of the season will abound as you enjoy the ever-popular Holiday Lights, unique holiday shopping experience, and special business open houses to find that perfect gift. And of course, we would love for you to spend a few days with us too!

All of our Bed & Breakfasts, Cabins, Cottages, and Hunting Lodges are open all year long!

Keosauqua- Get ready for a jolly Christmas kickoff! Dive into the holiday spirit with festive specials, refreshments, fun prizes, and a coloring contest. From 10am-Noon, Santa will be stopping by for photos so don't forget your camera's! Plus, there will be activities to keep the kids entertained. Stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for more updates. It's a day full of holiday cheer you won't want to miss.

Downtown Bonaparte 

Bonaparte- Spark your holiday shopping in Bonaparte! Local businesses are open late until 6pm, the Opera House is buzzing with fun for all ages. Bring your letters for Santa so Mrs. Claus can whisk them away to the North Pole! Kids can decorate cookies and a craft with her elves, while adults enjoy the Hot Cocoa Bar and Soup Supper (freewill donation for both). Don't miss the Girl Scout Troop #4089 Cookie Walk and wrap up the evening with the magical Community Christmas Tree Lighting at 6pm in the city park. Holiday fun for all!

Birmingham Lions Soup Supper & Firemen Santa Visit

Birmingham– Warm up your holiday season with a delicious variety of soups, desserts, and drinks for just $6 at the Lions Building. Then hop on a FREE horse-drawn wagon ride around town to admire the sparkling holiday lights and decorations, starting at 5:30pm. Santa will arrive at the log cabin at 7pm on a fire truck to hand out goodies to the childern (221 S Wood St.). Courtesy of the Birmingham Volunteer Fire Department. Don't miss this magical night!

Douds Community Annual Christmas Sing-Along

Douds- Join us for a heartwarming evening of Christmas music, joyful sing-alongs, and fellowship brought to you by Douds' three churches! After the service, stick around for refreshments and good company. A perfect way to celebrate the season!

Join First Iowa State Bank and the Village Folk School at the beautiful and historic Hotel Manning. Bring the kiddos to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus who will be there for the little ones. Van Buren County High School choir will perform and view the Van Buren County High School art exhibit. Youngsters can enjoy a folk school class on making bird seed ornaments. Come enjoy the fun!

Night Under the Lights in Bentonsport

Bentonsport- Enjoy a Gazebo and Tree lighting with hot cocoa and Christmas treats at the Gazebo! Bentonsport Shops will be open til 5:30pm.

Festival Of Trees

Join us for a "Woodland Winter" with beautifully decorated fresh trees, artificial trees, wreaths, tabletop trees & more! Purchases are made through a weekend-long silent auction. The Christmas Shoppe will have handcrafted, new, and vintage gifts. All cash & carry! Santa plans to visit on Saturday. Live music throughout the festival provided by area artists. Refreshments served. Proceeds benefit Christmas for kids. Sponsored by the Lions Club of Van Buren County.

There will be will be Artisan Demonstrations along with holiday treats. The Greef general store will be serving lunch in the "the cellar" 11:30-1pm.
