Milton

Founded in 1844 by settlers from Milton, Delaware, this town on the western border of the county was incorporated in 1878.

The Milton Heritage Society was organized in 1974; their main project has been the restoration of the Presbyterian Church (Heritage House), which now houses the community's museum. Arrangements can be made for viewing by calling 319-288-1162.

The Milton Depot stands as a reminder of the bustling days when the C.B. & Q. Railroad steamed through town. The Depot is open during special community events.

The Milton area is now home to a large Amish sect, providing an interesting cultural mix for the community.
