The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the eleven historic Villages of Van Buren County, Iowa.

Classes are held in a peaceful rural setting, so students can return to a simpler time and witness the importance of the artisan in village life. Pre-registration is required for classes.

Sep 25th » Model Railroad & Railroadiana Show

Have a blast at the Model Railroad & Railroadiana Show, sponsored by the Eldon Depot Committee and Museum (held in cinjunction with Old Iron Show). 

Be sure to take the family to the Eldon Depot Museum! It will be open Sat. 10am-6pm and Sun. Noon-4pm. It's located at 405 KD Ave., Eldon, IA 52554

Sep 25th » Rollin into Bonaparte

ATV Ride (all types of ATVs) 

The third Annual Rollin into Bonaparte ATV Ride- Poker Run with a twist: a county-wide scavenger hunt!!
ATVs (all types) are welcome!

The goal is to have fun while traveling on this outdoor adventure that challenges the participants by following clues provided, for a county-wide scavenger hunt. Participants will need to take selfies at designated locations throughout the county to prove they were at the locations, in order to earn each card for their poker hand.

$10 buy-in per poker hand with a 50% payback. All participants buying a poker hand receive a Rollin Into Bonaparte beverage koozie upon registration.

Rules: All participants in the poker run must show themselves with the koozie in each selfie (picture) to earn a card. A minimum of 6 selfies at the designated locations.
Registration begins at noon at the Bonaparte Community Improvement Association building (the former school building). A county map will be handed out upon registration. Before departing the first clues will be announced. Throughout the event, clues will be provided through the Bonaparte Events Committee Facebook page on the hour.
Participants should plan on being back in Bonaparte by 5:00 pm, A poker hand will be drawn upon returning to the Bonaparte Community Improvement Association building with proof of required selfie photos. Payout of the winning poker hand will be at 6:00 pm

Upon returning a meal of grilled hotdogs, bowls of chili and chips will be available for a freewill donation in the gymnasium.

All drivers must have a valid driver's license. Please follow the law. You ride at your own risk. The Bonaparte Event Committee is not responsible for accidents. Parking will be available for vehicles and trailers.

Adult beverages may be purchased in the Museum room sold by the Bonaparte Community Improvement Association. Adults must be 21 years old to purchase alcohol. IDs will be checked!

Sep 25th » Birmingham Homecoming Fish/Chicken Supper

Yum! Enjoy a fish/chicken supper from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Serving: fish fillets, chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, baked beans, various desserts, various flavors of Powerade drink and bottled water. Cost of the meal is $10.00.
