The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the eleven historic Villages of Van Buren County, Iowa.

Classes are held in a peaceful rural setting, so students can return to a simpler time and witness the importance of the artisan in village life. Pre-registration is required for classes.

Join the American Gothic House Center as they celebrate Grant Wood's birthday! 

FREE birthday scavenger hunt for school-aged children. Come to the American Gothic House Center (AGHC), get an official scavenger hunt form, find the answers in the gallery, and turn it in. Each participant will receive a birthday gift bag while supplies last. All children must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over. No preregistration is necessary. 

This portion of the birthday celebration is intended for school-aged kids and their parents or guardians.

The American Gothic House Center will be closed to the public until 1:00 p.m. on this day. Scavenger hunt forms will not be distributed until 2:00 p.m.

Get your reservation and have dessert with an Author!

Join up to 4 authors for an afternoon with variety of teas, Desserts, and they will be reading from their most current books! There will be Door Prizes and be sure to wear a vintage or silly hats.

Authors will have books for purchase and book signings available.

5 varieties of All-You-Can-Eat Soup with a delicious dessert for a free-will offering! There will also be a raffle drawling for a rifle, custom-made knife, Iron & Lace pottery, and gift certificate.

Serving soup at 5pm, till soup is gone.
Tickets can be purchased at the Annual Soup Supper or by calling Bill (319-331-4286). 

Yum, Dine in or carry-out!

Enjoy a fish/chicken supper from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Serving: fish fillets, chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, various desserts, and drinks.

Cost: $13.00 and Children 6 and under eat free.

Proceeds will be used to finance the 2024 Homecoming event May 31, June 1 and June 2.
