The Villages Folk School specializes in providing learning experiences in traditional arts and skills while drawing upon the uniqueness of each of the eleven historic Villages of Van Buren County, Iowa.

Classes are held in a peaceful rural setting, so students can return to a simpler time and witness the importance of the artisan in village life. Pre-registration is required for classes.

Join Van Buren County Naturalist Chloe for a hike at Morris Park to explore and discover various bird species found in our local habitat.

Linda Betsinger McCann has been doing genealogy research for over 40 years. She gives genealogy the credit for her writing books on Iowa history. She has had 15 books about Iowa history published. “Rosie the Riveter was a promotional campaign to encourage women to go to work during World War II. The men had left jobs to fight in the war, and women were needed to fill those jobs. Iowa had 70 companies with military contracts during WWII. Linda was able to speak with 35 women who worked during the war. She shares their memories when she speaks.”

Join Van Buren County Naturalist Chloe for a hike at Lacey Keosauqua Beach to explore and discover various bird species found in our local habitat.

This 2-mile hike will have various terrain types from
moderate to difficult. This trail is gravel and timber so proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. We have a limited number of binoculars available if you don't have your own.

Registration is encouraged but not required.

Doors open at 4:30pm

This helps raise funds for the 4H Shooting Sports events.

Keosauqua Public Library Annual Bake/Book Sale Fundraiser, Friday March 22, 1pm-5pm and Saturday March 23, 8am-Noon. Free Will Offering. Open to the general public.

Join Van Buren County Naturalist Chloe in exploring Lindsay Wilderness. Discover different bird species during a mile hike starting at the South Entrance of Lindsay in Bonaparte.

This trail is gravel and timber so proper hiking attire and bug spray is recommended. This mile hike will have various terrain types from moderate to difficult. We have a limited number of binoculars available if you don't have your own.

Enjoy a fish/chicken supper from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Serving: fish fillets, chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, baked beans, various desserts, and drinks.

Cost: $13.00 and Children 6 and under eat free.

Proceeds will be used to finance the 2024 Homecoming event May 31, June 1 and June 2.

Kids aged 4 and up are invited to join us at the library with Iowa State Extension to read and learn about food, science about our foods, STEAM events and snacks.

Join the Bonaparte Fire Dept. 5-8pm for their Annual Catfish Dinner. Serving: whole catfish, potato salad and baked beans for a free will donation.
