Jun 7th » Austin to Keosauqua PaddleThe paddle will be held on Friday, June 7th from 10:00 am until approximately 2:00 pm starting at the Austin Park Campgrounds in Van Buren County. Participants will stop several times to learn about the animals, history, and geology of the river. If you have your own canoe or kayak you are more than welcome to bring your own. The paddle is open to everyone, however children under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This is an official Des Moines River Water Trails event cosponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Van Buren County Conservation. The Des Moines River Registration is required.

Jun 8th » AMERICAN GOTHIC 5KRegistration fee $25.00, includes map, and medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places per age group divided into male/female categories. T-shirts will be ordered at the event to be distributed at a later date. Walk-ins are accepted. Details: The route goes through Eldon, along the Des Moines River, through the park, and will end at the American Gothic House Center. All ages are welcome but minors under the age of 16 must be supervised by their parents or adults aged 18 years or older.
Jun 8th » Free Fishing ClinicJoin us for an educational fishing event at Lake Sugema Wildlife Area. At this family fun event everyone will learn fishing basics and fish identification. This event will be held at South boat ramp. Kids 16 and under must be accompanied by a guardian. Limited tackle and fishing poles will be available. Van Buren County Conservation Board will provide worms for bait, if you want to use any other bait you are encouraged to bring your own.

This trail is grass and dirt, proper hiking attire, sunscreen, and bug spray is recommended. Registration is encouraged but not required.
